Some people from the cities of Shanghai, Wuxi and Changzhou decided to spend their brief May Day holiday visiting the city of Taicang, Jiangsu province to take in the scenery, with the Jincang Lake and Tianjing Lake parks proving especially attractive to the visitors.

It seemed that their grassy landscape was the best place to go camping and fly a kite, while the Taicang Modern Agriculture Park attracted many people from outside the city because of its Chinese roses in blossom and its Rose Manor guest house reached 100-percent occupancy during the three-day holiday, with rooms averaging 900 yuan ($138) a night.

Vacation packages even sold out right after they were announced on mobile platforms back in early April, according to Rose Manor's sales manager, a Mr. Sheng.
