Customs authorities reduce clearance time, costs
In less than three hours, Taicang port cleared a shipment of fish collagen products produced by Sinochem Qingdao Co for export to Japan on Nov 26.
This was the first batch of goods produced by a Shandong-based company to be exported at Taicang, Jiangsu province, after the two provinces integrated their customs on Oct 18.
Exports already checked by local authorities in Shandong will not be subject to inspections at the Taicang port, thanks to the measure, which also allows clearance procedures to be completed on a paperless basis.
The move shortens customs clearance time by two working days, and saves up to 1,000 yuan ($156) for each shipment.
