Restaurants that make noodles their specialties

Noodle is one of Taicang people's favorite foods. Heavy or light, chewy or soft, noodles always have followers in the small city in Jiangsu province. Today we give you four of the many noodle restaurants in Taicang. Each has their own secret recipes and unique menus.

Yixianzhai

The newly-opened restaurant already has returning customers. Its trade secret is the fish soup noodle.

The chef braises several different fish, including crucian carp, silver carp, and ricefield eel, for hours. It is a thick, white soup, tasty and fresh. The noodles are special orders, with eggs blended in the dough to make the noodles chewy.

They sell only 100 bowls per day.

Anji Mianguan

The favorite dish at Anji Mianguan is noodles with green peppers and dried bamboo shoots. It is a surprisingly delicious combination with bamboo shoots from the owner's hometown in Zhejiang province.

Anji is a small town famous for its bamboo forest, which was featured in the award-winning film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

The restaurant makes white and red soups to accompany the noodles. Or customers can choose to mix noodles with soy sauce and sesame butter.

The prices range from 5 to 18 yuan ($2.84).
