The 10th Taicang Beer Festival concluded on August 30 after five jovial days in Taicang, Jiangsu province.

The festival attracted throngs of Chinese, Germans and other internationals, who lined wooden tables and enjoyed traditional German dishes and beers inside blue and white tents.

To add to the festivities, traditional performances were given by German bands, who flew over especially for the event.

Taicang is home to a large number of enterprises and the annual beer festival tradition was introduced by investors a decade ago. The event has become a prominent fixture on the city's events calendar over the past few years, as more German enterprises have entered the area.

The first beer festival drew in a modest 150 people back in 2006 at the Taicang branch of Weiss-Voetsch, an environmental testing instrument producer.

Starting on August 26, this year's beer festival lured more than 6,000 people from surrounding areas of Shanghai, Suzhou and Taicang itself.

The festival has become increasingly commercialized in the last few years and offers a chance for the business community to network and socialize, as well as showcase of culture.

During the 2015 Taicang beer festival, BrogWarner, a leading powertrain solutions provider; Schaeffler, a major automotive and industrial supplier; and the Taicang Roundtable, a European association of enterprises; each sponsored a night of the celebration.
