The city of Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province is installing three water cycling systems that cover the city's eastern, middle and western areas to improve the quality of water.

The south-to-north system runs 13.4 kilometers long from the south of Shazhou Lake to the north of Yangtze River. The arrangement is used to divert water from the Yangtze River. In addition, it has become an ecological corridor with functions of leisure and fitness.

The system in the middle area started construction in 2013 and has finished construction. With a length of 16 kilometers, it aims to improve the city's water quality.

The third system is still under construction. These new structures are expected to improve the water cycling rate to better the rivers' self-purification capacity.
