The city of Taicang in Jiangsu province has taken on several infrastructure projects of late, in the hope of constructing better transportation links with Shanghai.

The Taicang section of the Shanghai-Nantong railway began construction in 2014. Nantong is a major city in Jiangsu province.

The Shanghai-Nantong railway link is part of the Shenyang-Haikou express transit system, which will connect Shanghai with northeastern and southern China.

Yuelu highway, which is currently under construction, will run through Taicang and link it with the Shanghai city traffic network.

In February, a transportation and tourism center opened in Taicang to provide convenience for passengers travelling to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

In May, Taicang opened a shuttle bus route from Huangjing town in Taicang to western Jiading district and Meilan Lake of Baoshan district in Shanghai.
