Projects to renovate cargo distribution expressways and the Yanglintang waterway and to extend the No 339 Provincial Highway eastward were accelerated in 2012. Projects to renovate Yuelu Road (the section between Shuangfu Road and Caijiawan Bridge) and a section of the No 339 Provincial Highway in the urban area were completed.
The urban rapid transit system is being gradually improved. A total of 100 pairs of intelligent bus shelters have been set up. An integrated traffic network between all towns and villages has been established. A taxi service center and new science and technology education center has been put into operation. The construction of the Liuhe Passenger Station has begun. Preparatory work for a project to renovate and expand the Shaxi Passenger Station is progressing smoothly. Traffic has been gradually improved. In 2012, another 45 standard school buses and 50 taxis went into service. So far, a total of 105,000 bus cards have been put into use. Citizen travel rate by bus has reached 19.6 percent.
