Zhangjiagang's 2015 Science and Technology Week came to an end on July 8, gathering more than 600 experts and leaders from universities and enterprises to show their latest technologies and seek cooperation.
Some domestic famous universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University, displayed 150 innovative technologies with focus on advanced manufacturing, high-end equipment, new materials, environmental protection and life science. They aimed to seek cooperation with enterprises on these technologies.
A group of professional elites also offered suggestions on Zhangjiagang's development. They suggested that the city should focus on the integration of ecology and agriculture and promote Zhangjiagang-featured science and technology.
This year's science and technology week activities highlighted entrepreneurship, with the aim of transforming Zhangjiagang into a hot spot for entrepreneurs. Cai Xingwei, a doctor from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology who studies fire fighting materials, said the week-long event provided him with a platform to communicate with Zhangjiagang's pioneer parks and an opportunity to realize his entrepreneurship dream.
In addition, Zhangjiagang set up a foundation for innovation and entrepreneurship to support the growth of small and medium-sized scientific enterprise. The initial fund amounted to 200 million yuan ($32.64 million).
