New transformer substation put into use
A new transformer substation became operational at 3 am on July 1 in Banqiao town of Taicang city in Jiangsu province.
The eight-megavolt transformer is the only one to have been installed at Banqiao substation so far. However, three more transformers are earmarked for deployment at the site to meet the electricity demand in the town.
The transformer substation is an improvement to the existing power grid in Taicang, which works on a 110-kilovolt capacity.
The arrival of the new transformer will help to stabilize power transmission in the city. It also comes as good news for the city as electricity demand has increased since the start of the summer period.
