A delegation from the Caribbean island of Curacao, part of the Netherlands Antilles, visited the city of Taicang in Jiangsu province on May 26.

Led by Prime Minister Ivar Onno Odwin Asjes, the delegation visited Taicang Port and Titan Wind Energy (Suzhou) Co. Asjes briefed government representatives of Taicang on Curacao and voiced his wish to strengthen cooperation between the two sides.

According to Asjes, Curacao welcomes 1.5 million tourists each year. The island is now reconstructing its airport to bolster trade and tourism. Asjes expressed his hopes in cooperating with Taicang in the tourism industry.

Additionally, the prosperous Curacao Port and the currently-under-construction economic development zone in Curacao will help the two sides explore the cooperation potential in logistics and share experience in building an economic development zone.

Taicang has long maintained a close tie with Netherlands. There are currently six Dutch-funded enterprises in the city.
