Taicang targets closer connection with Shanghai

Taicang city in Jiangsu province has accelerated construction of its transportation in a bid to provide faster transport to Shanghai.

Highway

The Caijiawan Bridge, a highway in central Taicang, opened to traffic on July 15. Also recently finished is the Shaxi exit of Yanjiang Highway. The Taicang-Shanghai section of State Road 338 will be completed by the end of August.

Railway

Prep work ahead of construction for the Taicang section of the Hutong (Shanghai-Nantong) Railway is proceeding smoothly. Builders are expected to break ground this month.

Public transport

The city is planning to upgrade its Shanghai-Taicang and Shanghai-Liuhe express lines, as well as build a passenger terminal that will link with Shanghai's Hongqiao and Pudong airports.
