Suzhou makes 2014 Chinese City Ranking
Recently, Suzhou was chosen as one of the top 10 best food cities in China in an annual online interaction event of the 2014 Chinese City Rankings by CRI Online.
Suzhou, being the center for cuisine in East China and the birthplace of Suzhou cuisine, is one of the top three cuisines in China. Suzhou cuisine features a bland flavor with a small amount of richness. Suzhou dishes are fresh, tasty and crisp. The soups are rich in flavor without being greasy, offering a gentle taste that is both salty and sweet. In the process of cooking, one needs to be particularly rigorous about the ingredients used, attaching importance to the color and the appearance of the dishes and the seasonal differences.
Some of the most famous Suzhou dishes are sweet and sour mandarin fish, fried crab with egg whites, Biluo shrimps, stewed duck, simmered pork, fried eel, water shield soup and jujube paste cake.
