Meeting boosts Taicang tourism
On May 30, the Taicang tourism committee held a meeting to analyze the tourism situation of the city last year and arrange tourism work for this year. Du Xiaogang, mayor of Taicang, and Lu Yan, vice-mayor, attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Du noted that the city needs to seize development opportunities, improve supporting facilities, focus on the construction of the Yangtze River Estuary Holiday Resort, promote rural tourism, raise the tourist service level and optimize the tourism environment.
Last year, Taicang received a total of 4.17 million tourists, generating tourism revenue of 6.18 billion yuan ($1 billion), an increase of 11.8 percent and 13.02 percent, respectively.
This year, the city will increase efforts in key projects, including construction of the Yangtze River Estuary Holiday Resort and promotion of rural ecological tours in a bid to maintain fast development of the tourism industry.
