Crystal artworks from Sweden are on display at Suzhou Museum since May 18, International Museum Day, according to Suzhou Daily.
The show has over 140 pieces of crystal artworks from Smaland Museum and the Swedish Glass Museum. This is the first foreign artwork exhibit at Suzhou Museum.
Sweden has a history of producing crystal glassware since the 17th century. Some of the workshops can be traced back 260 years.
The artworks produced in the last two centuries are the epitome of the history of Swedish crystal glass production. The most precious exhibits include the Czar’s crystal bowl produced in 1897, a crystal radio produced in 2004, and a pair of size 36 blue crystal high heels made in 2005.
The free exhibit will be open until Aug 24, 2014.
In 2012, Suzhou and Sweden’s southern Smaland region established a friendly sisterhood relationship to facilitate economic and cultural exchanges.
As an important cultural landmark, Suzhou Museum has become a sister museum of Smaland Museum.
