Taicang has put considerable effort into improving its intelligent transport system in recent years.

It is the first county-level city in the country to build intelligent bus shelters. To date, 231 intelligent bus shelters have been set up in urban and rural areas, ranking top among the country.

Each bus shelter is equipped with an electronic bus-stop board that connects with a positioning system on buses and can forecast when a bus will arrive and how far away it is. The board also offers other services, including bus-stop broadcasting, electronic monitoring and weather forecasting.

According to the public transport company, Taicang has a total of 246 buses running 58 routes across the city. All the buses have been installed with the intelligent transport system to improve public transport.

In addition, Taicang has realized "urban and rural transport integration." Suburban residents can enjoy the same treatment as urban residents when they travel. Some urban-rural night buses are available to better facilitate rural residents.

In the future, the transport company will continue to step up investment to optimize the intelligent transport system and create a favorable transport environment.
