Suzhou to enhance greenery this year
The city of Suzhou plans to complete new public green lands measuring 5 million square meters this year to expand its urban and rural green coverage. The coverage of the 10-minute service circle for green lands is expected to exceed 75 percent. Citizens will only need to walk 10 minutes to reach green lands.
According to experts on afforestation, green-land construction will grow more native plants and wild plants this year to promote ecological afforestation.
Focus on greening this year
Central city: Afforestation projects covering Huqiu Wetland Park, Suzhou Bay, the landscape belt around Taihu Lake, two botanic gardens and several roads
Zhangjiagang: Twelve greening projects involving four ecological parks
Kunshan: Three parks, two roads and six ecological wetland oxidation ponds
Changshu: Four main projects on Kuncheng Lake, Lotus Wetland Park, the Third Ring Road and the slow traffic system
Taicang: Increasing green coverage of the Yangtze River Estuary Forest Wetland Park, Tianjing Lake Wetland Park, Qiputang Wetland Park, and Science and Education New Town.
