The 3rd China Suzhou Creative & Design Cultural Industry Expo kicked off in Jiangsu province on April 18, 2014.

The expo is a platform for young talent to display their works, such as mobile phone shells that contain earphone lines, and speakers with 360-degree sound effect.

At the expo, 538 professional enterprises and more than 1,000 individual designers are displaying over 10,000 of their works.

Wang Bin, spokesperson for the expo organizing committee, said the expo is one of two work collection platforms for China Youth Design Award. In two months, about 2,100 works by 1,966 designers from more than 50 cities have been collected from the platform. Some of the designers have already won several international awards and are influential in the field.

The expo also attaches great importance to practical functions of the creative works on display. Nonprofessional visitors accounted for 70 percent of the total at the two previous expos. A contest for modern Suzhou-style living space will be held during the expo this year to attract more people.

Since kick-off on Feb 12, 1,380 groups of photos of the spaces have entered the contest, with themes about bookstores, traditional brands, special streets, restaurants, cafes, tea houses and clothes.

The organizing committee also invited cultural celebrities, micro blog stars and well-known designers to give lectures on the Suzhou lifestyle. Photographers, design amateurs and scholars are also invited to visit the competing spaces.

The move aims to spread the Suzhou lifestyle to more families.
