Taicang’s daily sewage treatment capacity tops 145,000 tons
An inspection team of water conservation authorities led by Du Xiaogang, mayor of Taicang, visited the city’s three sewage treatment plants on March 25 to check drinking-water quality and sewage treatment capacity.
Du noted that the construction of sewage treatment plants plays an important role in curbing water pollution and improving the ecological environment. He called on all related government departments and the public to work together in environmental improvement.
Taicang has made construction of sewage treatment plants and improvement of sewage treatment capacity a top priority. Currently, there are seven sewage treatment factories in operation and 280 km of sewage pipelines, with a daily handling capacity of 145,000 tons.
Taicang has also stepped up construction of water supply projects. It has formed a comprehensive water supply system that offers good taste, quality water and sufficient pressure.
