According to the Taicang municipal agricultural commission, the annual investment budget for construction of the Taicang Modern Rice Industry Park is preliminarily estimated at 8.6 million yuan ($1.4 million). The city will build a modern technological service center, form an advanced production service system, and speed up infrastructure construction.

Focusing on “ecological harmony and beautiful gardens,” the park includes six villages with a total area of about 30,600 mu (2,040 hectares). It seeks to develop the best rice producer in Jiangsu.

Located in Wanfeng village with a planned area of about 40 mu and a construction area of 20 mu, the technological service center will finish project design before May and complete major construction by the end of this year thanks to an annual investment of 3 million yuan. It will be equipped with a science building covering 3 square kilometers; an agricultural machinery maintenance center; and storerooms for agricultural products, agricultural materials and agriculture chemicals.

The park will speed up efforts to establish an advanced production service system, organize technology showcases about soil quality improvement, create demonstration zones such as a pilot area for a professional fertilization service system, and build three exhibition areas. The total area will exceed 1,000 mu.

Donglin Farm will deepen its circular planting and breeding pattern, improve supporting technology, and work to improve quality and efficiency. A total of 1.5 million yuan is needed to support the project. To promote scaled operations of the land, the park will dedicate 2,400 mu of land to be transferred.

Eastern Qingfeng village and Donglin Farm will be linked through a main trunk this year. The park will build an open canal measuring 53,000 meters and 26 pumping stations. The efforts will involve 10,400 cubic meters of earthwork and will improve wasteland. The park will bulldoze fishponds and earth covering an area of 300 mu and 350 mu, respectively. Total investment is expected to reach over 4.1 trillion yuan. With a total investment of over 4 trillion yuan, supporting facilities will include an agricultural machinery storehouse of about 1,632 square meters, management rooms of 5,000 square meters, a 9,000-square-meter seedling factory and a service exhibition center for agricultural products.
