According to the planning department of the Taicang municipal bureau of housing and construction, construction plans for Shaxi’s southern new town were released recently. The plans will be announced publicly on April 5. The plan covers 4.28 square kilometers and stresses sustainable development, multi-functional layout and city management.

Sustainable development emphasizes that the town’s construction should be adapted to local conditions without ruining road and water systems, landscapes and local lifestyles. The new town and the old town area should be harmonious.

A multi-functional layout seeks multifunction development of land, encouraging mixed use of space to form effective and convenient areas.

The plan also highlights the city management idea to use the market economy to optimize the town’s elements in order to build a good city image and upgrade comprehensive competitiveness.
