Suzhou’s high-tech industries achieve 1.3 trillion yuan in 2013

Recently, the Department of Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province and the Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Statistics jointly issued a 2013 statistical bulletin for new and high-technology industries. According to the bulletin, Jiangsu’s high-tech industrial output value surpassed 1.3 trillion yuan ($212.1 billion) in 2013. Roughly 43.4 percent of the output of industrial enterprises above a designated size saw annual growth of 2.1 percent.

Since last year, Suzhou has made great efforts to foster high-tech enterprises, accelerate the construction of high-tech industries, and actively develop innovative industrial clusters. So far, the city has had three national-level high-tech industrial zones, four provincial high-tech industrial zones and 2,499 high-tech enterprises. Twenty-seven new high-tech industrial carriers were approved in 2013, including the Changshu biological industry base, the National Torch Program project, and Zhangjiagang’s energy-saving and environmentally-friendly industrial base. The strategic alliance of the micro-nano processing and manufacturing industry in regards to technological innovation have been included in the national pilot alliance. The new nano material industry cluster in Suzhou Industrial Park and Kunshan’s small RNA industry cluster are listed in China’s pilot clusters of innovative industries.
