Taicang had many achievements in beautiful village construction in 2013. It invested 196 million yuan ($32.1 million) into 213 key projects to accelerate urban and rural integration, optimize ecological environment and people’s livelihood, and strengthen rural economic development. At present, 182 projects have finished construction, 85.4 percent of the total.

Fuqiao town carried out a series of restoration projects in local residential areas last year, greatly improving the living environment and benefiting over 350 households. The town plans to attach more importance on developing agricultural leisure tours to improve the rural environment and increase resident income.

Sanjiashi village has focused on the promotion of culture and natural beauty. Yinbei new village in Shaxi town is highlighting its community culture. Other villages are working to build ecological and livable communities.

Beautiful village construction aims to improve the rural infrastructure and living environment, as well as boost urban and rural integration and modern agricultural development. In 2014, Taicang will continue to put more effort into improving the rural environment and resident satisfaction.
