Upgrading industry and building a beautiful town

Du Xiaogang, deputy secretary of the Taicang municipal committee and acting mayor of Taicang, joined a Shaxi delegation to review a government work report on the afternoon of January 5. At the review meeting, he stressed the importance of properly handling relationships between traditional inheritance and innovation, development speed and development quality and benefits, pushing various social causes in Shaxi progressed.

Du Xiaogang said that Shaxi achieved strong social and economic development in 2013. Large enterprises in Shaxi, such as Xiangtang, Litai, Hongda and Dewei, maintained strong development momentum in a tough market in the past year, carrying forward the private economy. A group of vital carriers such as the biological medicine base and Taiwan-invested industrial park continue to run steadily. Industry development has maintained its fast speed and achieved satisfactory results.

This year's government work report stressed the relationship between inheriting tradition and reforming innovation. Du Xiaogang said the same applies for the development of Shaxi. The government in Shaxi will focus more on transformation, upgrade and innovation of enterprises; strive to foster small giants in traditional industries; encourage more developing biochemical medicine enterprises to set up shop; and make the industry solid and strong. In addition, urban and rural construction should pay more attention to functional patterns, while keeping the characteristics of Jiangnan. Shaxi will promote economic and intensive use of land through land circulation, improve economic returns by using scale management patterns, constantly promote the development of rural areas and agriculture, and encourage income increases for farmers. As an exemplary beautiful town in Jiangsu, Shaxi will continue to improve its planning and construction management to strengthen environmental protection and build a beautiful town.
