Suzhou hits the big screen in Personal Tailor
Movie director Feng Xiaogang’s blockbuster Personal Tailor opened recently in cinemas across the country. Many Suzhou scenic spots, such as Chongyuan Temple, Jinji Lake, the Suzhou Culture and Arts Center, and the ancient pine garden, appear in the movie.
Chongyuan Temple
Chongyuan Temple is situated in the Suzhou industrial park area in the Yangcheng Lake peninsula. The temple was built in AD503 during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty during the Northern and Southern Dynasties (420-589). With its recent restoration, the 1,500-year-old temple now features a 33-meter-high statue of Guanyin and reflects the unique style of Guanyin shrines. The grand hall of Chongyuan Temple covers an area of 2,100 square meters and is the largest single building in a temple across the country.
