The Basel Contemporary Art Museum in Suzhou of Jiangsu province started a plan on November 3 to attract, select and support young artists from home and abroad to experience local life and create more works.

Any potential young artist will be able to join in the long-term plan. The museum will support them to come to Suzhou for creation or communication. They may also get their own workshop.

The museum plans to invite famous artists to give lectures and hold a series of art events.

Selected artists will stay in Suzhou for one month, experiencing life in the city with its profound culture and beautiful natural scenery. Their works are expected to be themed around Jiangnan culture and kept at the museum.

The first group of selected artists includes Huang Haiqing, Li Xubin, Chen Yi’er and Huang Qiuxia. Most of the artists were born in the 1980s.
