Shajiabang was recognized as a 5A tourism attraction in April. Recently, Shajiabang Wetland Park was awarded as a national wetland park by the State Forestry Administration.

Shajiabang took four years to restore its wetland, water system and forest land in order to improve the ecological environment around the wetland park and offer high-quality water resources for wild plants and animals.

According to Zhu Weifang, a staff worker at the Shajiabang scenic area, the wetland park has 89 kinds of birds, including an extremely endangered duck, 49 kinds of fishes and 554 other species.

Shajiabang has established tourism based on red culture, green ecology, cuisine and performing arts. With the restoration and development of the wetland park, it will benefit of the region’s water town culture and enrich and improve tourism products. Shajiabang will display its new image using indoor and outdoor as well as traditional and modern ways. It will make efforts to attract more than 2 million visitors this year and achieve revenues of over 100 million yuan ($16.4 million).
