With the three-month Shuangfeng Cultural Festival just closing, the seventh Shuangfeng Mutton Food Festival opened on October 30.

Themed around the charming water town and beautiful hometown, the Shuangfeng Cultural Festival included more than 10 themed activities, such as photo, essay and speech contests, aiming to create a platform for people to show their talent.

Shuangfeng town has hosted the Mutton Food Festival six times since 2007, helping establish mutton as a delicacy of Taicang. Shuangfeng town has received nearly 300,000 visitors every year with revenue totaling over 50 million yuan ($8.21 million). Mutton helps boost Shuangfeng’s catering industry. A mutton food street covering an area of 58,000 square meters was built in 2008. Shuangfeng town has two restaurants that are recognized as China time-honored brands, eight restaurants well-known in Jiangsu province and mutton restaurants that are famous in Suzhou.
