The 2013 China (Zhangjiagang) Yangtze River Culture Festival will begin in Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province on November 2. Fifteen performance teams from 12 provinces and cities along the Yangtze River and a team from Pohang, Korea, will give excellent folk art performances at the opening ceremony.

Visitors can experience the Tongliang dragon dance from Chongqing, the Fengxian rolling lamp, the Tujia wave dance from Hubei, the long-drum dance from Hunan, the flower-drum dance from Yunnan and the phoenix dance from Guizhou. The national intangible cultural heritages and Qunxing prize winners will make the Yangtze River Cultural Festival more attractive.

One of the teams consists of 20 eye-catching young ladies. They will dress up, wear exquisite silver jewelry, sing and dance at the opening ceremony as they perform Duo Luo He, a dance of the Yi ethnic group in the Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture, Sichuan province.

Jin Jing, choreographer of the dance, said all the performers of Duo Luo He must be women. They sing and dance while moving in a circle. It is an important performance during the Torch Festival with a history of more than 1,000 years. It shows the cultural background and spirit of the Yi ethnic group.
