The Sugang Highway of Taicang Port was opened on October 8. It is 15.41 kilometers long and starts in Shaxi. It stretches to the northeast and connects the container operation area of Taicang Port.

The Sugang Highway is the first expressway specially built for Taicang Port. Its main road has four lanes and goes two ways. It has a planned investment of 1.7 billion yuan ($277.76 million) and will be the main artery for the container operation area of Taicang in the future.

Taicang Port serves as the main port of the Shanghai International Shipping Center. It is also the first foreign trade port of Jiangsu province. It is also Taicang’s most important access point to the sea. In the past two years, Taicang Port’s cargo throughput has increased greatly. In the past, container trucks usually went to the port by way of the 338 provincial road, Xitai Road and other common roads to Taicang Port. With the increase in cargo throughput, transportation pressure on Taicang Port has increased year by year.

The completion of the Sugang Highway of Taicang Port will impact the region positively. For enterprises, cargo can be carried straight to Taicang Port. The new road is 15 minutes faster than earlier routes and is also convenient and safe. It will help enterprises cut costs and upgrade market competitiveness. The highway will improve Taicang Port’s transportation conditions and effectively upgrade its competitiveness.
