Organized by the literary federation of Taicang and co-organized by Song Wenzhi Art Gallery and the Taicang Art Association, an exhibition of Chinese painted fans was unveiled recently in Song Wenzhi Art Gallery.

This is first time that Taicang has held a painted fan exhibition. The exhibition features 41 works from 29 artists. Most of the works use mountains, rivers, flowers and birds as their theme, bringing people a refreshing feeling during the hot summer.

Ancient Chinese calligraphers and painters liked to paint or write on the paper fans to express their thoughts and feelings. Fan painting is a time-honored traditional art in China, and many works are masterpieces passed down generation by generation.
