Liming village in the Science and Education New Town is the birthplace of the popular legend of the cowherd and the weaving maid. The temple of the weaving maid is still preserved in the village. Every year during Qixi Festival, the local people hold a series of activities to commemorate the traditional holiday.

To pass down Qixi culture and make the cowherd and weaving maid a brand, the Science and Education New Town will hold a Qixi cultural festival every year. On Aug 11, the 4th Qixi Cultural Festival was unveiled in the new town, which attracted more than 5,000 residents.

The 4th Qixi Cultural Festival has a series of activities, including a music video shooting competition, photography competition, love poem competition, and traditional opera and dance shows.

As an annual festival, the Qixi Cultural Festival has been held four times. It has gradually helped develop Qixi culture as a brand of the Science and Education New Town. The new town blends Qixi culture into its city construction, naming roads, bridges and lakes with Qixi cultural elements. Some examples include Road of Magpie Bridge and Road of Huanggu Pond.
