The infrastructure of the Science and Education New Town is continuously being upgraded, including the renovation of Nanjiao Middle School, new bus stops incorporated into the city’s bus service, and a shuttle bus line connecting the Science and Education New Town with Shanghai Hongqiao Station.

Ms. He, a resident of Science and Education New Town, said she is very satisfied with the improvements. “I’m very comfortable living here. Green plants help to provide cleaner air and bus stops near the residential area make everyday life easier,” she said. “I accompany my grandson to the community-run early learning center to learn painting in the afternoon, and I join the fitness dance with neighbors in Tianjing Lake public square after dinner.”

Tianjing Lake is the center of Science and Education New Town and, since the opening of the public square and leisure area, it has become a new place for residents to relax and enjoy their free time.

A park is set to be built around Tianjing Lake, with the green area covering nearly 20,000,000 square meters. After its completion, the park will become a sort of huge natural oxygen bar, which will help to maintain the new town’s environment. “My family goes for a walk around Tianjing Lake every day after dinner,” said another resident, surnamed Zhang.

In addition, Taiping New Road - with an investment of over 20 million RMB, has started operation.

A greenbelt along the river is located at the eastern side of the road, and a waterfront terrace is set to be built and will serve as another leisure place for residents.
