Education Inspection Team from Suzhou visits Taicang

Updated: August 1, 2012

An inspection team from Suzhou came to Taicang City to review, assess and evaluate their education sector. Zhao Jianchu, Vice Mayor of Taicang City, attended the meeting and reported on the progress of education development.

The review work involved four aspects: the government’s fulfillment of leadership duties, ensuring educational investment’s adherence to law, balancing educational development at different levels, and promoting faculty cultivation. Taicang City has stated that it has given top priority to modernizing the education system.

In terms of organization and leadership, Taicang City has listed education as an important item on the agenda of the party committee and the government. It has formed a series of regulations to ensure education is a priority. Regarding investment, Taicang will increase funding for education each year, ensuring that education investment is guaranteed. In planning educational development, Taicang will adopt measures focusing on community trust and organization. Vocational education will be localized and utilize a “dual system” to balance education at all levels. For faculty management, Taicang will adhere to a strict teacher qualification system and encourage student enrollment in teaching programs. Taicang sees this as an innovative way to select, train, and enhance the growth of future teachers.
