The 5th Annual Shuangfeng Fudi Mutton Gourmet Festival will be held on Oct 15 in the Yipin food street of Taicang city, which is known as the “home of Chinese mutton gourmet.”

The festival promotes Fudi culture, cultivates local tourism industry and facilitates regional economic development.

The Taicang municipal government, Shuangfeng town government, Taicang municipal cultural and broadcasting bureau, and Suzhou cooking association will sponsor the event.

The three-month activity comprises of a dragon and lion rolling lamp competition, mutton gourmet exhibition, Chinese gourmet food exhibition and the Fudi Cup Charming Shuangfeng photography competition,

Microbloggers can participate. Visitors can compete in the Shuangfeng Cup, a national fishing championship and attend the Fudi Welcoming New Years bell tolling ceremony.

Shuangfeng is the home of dragon and lion folk art famous for its regional mutton gourmet food.

This year, Shuangfeng has embraced “forging ahead and keeping in line with international norms.”

The development objective of “optimizing arrangement and integrating to the main town” promotes the joint operations of three key local industrial sectors.

The town will be constructed into “an area that gathers characteristic industries, new section of urban development and a demonstration area for ecological construction,” to maintain sustainable progress of the economy and society that mark a substantial step forward for the local service industry.
