The finals of a national skating competition took place in Wuxi's Binhu district on Dec 16. Twenty-two teams from across the country, comprising over a hundred athletes, engaged in a day-long race.

Chen Yi, director of the Wuxi sports bureau, said Wuxi has been organizing winter camps and experiential events to foster a growing community of young winter sports enthusiasts and working to become a sports-friendly city by leveraging facilities such as an indoor ski resort called Bonski and various ice rinks across the city.

The skating event is expected to ignite fervor for winter sports among the masses and bolster the growth of the winter sports industry in Binhu.

Since 2021, Binhu district has been actively promoting ice and snow activities while training people in winter sports. This effort aims to turn the industry into a major growth engine of Binhu's economic development and promote fitness among the public.
