The 14 major scenic spots in Binhu district, Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province received 194,300 tourists during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival from Sept 10 to 12.
These destinations generated 10.83 million yuan ($1.56 million) in ticket revenue during the period, 23.75 percent more than during the Dragon Boat Festival, which took place from June 3 to 5.
Short-distance trips, village tours and camping were the most popular travel options during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
Binhu's tourist attractions held a variety of activities to celebrate the festival. For example, firework displays, lightshows, moon cake-making sessions, and lantern riddle activities were held at Yuantouzhu, or the Turtle Head Island, Plum Garden, Liyuan Garden, Wuxi Studios, and Sunac Land.
Visitors to Nianhua Bay could fly Kongming lanterns, watch drone light shows, and attend concerts on a lawn.
The Binhu bureau of culture, radio, television and tourism also worked with sub-districts to stage a series of performances including singing, dancing, operas, and instrumental performances.
