Binhu district in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, was recently recognized as a provincial-level demonstration area for culture and tourism-related consumption.
The district has been increasing the supply of cultural and tourism services, upgrading industries and stimulating demand over the past few years.
For example, Binhu has been pressing ahead with a number of major cultural and tourism projects, such as the third phase of Wuxi Studios, Helyu Film and Television Park, and a country park. It has also turned scenic areas, cultural venues as well as dilapidated buildings into places of consumption where people can read books, watch exhibitions and hold parties.
The district has promoted the integrated development of the tourism, culture, sports, agriculture, and business sectors. It has held 19 editions of the Wuxi Taihu Lake Cultural Tourism Festival and planned more than 30 activities that will be held across the year.
In order to boost the nighttime economy, Binhu has extended the opening hours of public cultural venues and stadiums and encouraged businesses involved in the culture and tourism industries to do the same. A series of nighttime activities have also been organized to improve the consumer experience.
