Binhu district in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province has been attempting to attract talent by offering affordable housing options.

On March 26, 41 talent apartments were made available to talents and 10 of them have already been occupied. The community that these apartments are in features amenities including teahouses, gyms and reading rooms.

Among the first residents of these apartments is Ding Xuanming, general manager of Wuxi Leapers Semiconductor Co, who chose a fully furnished one-bedroom flat. "Having a home in Wuxi makes me feel warm and inspired," said Ding.

Binhu district also announced the construction of a new residential building at a ceremony held that same day. The building is expected to have about 100 apartments which range between 40 and 55 square meters in size. Community facilities like supermarkets, gyms and gardens will also be built.

Binhu plans to invest 2 billion yuan ($314.74 million) over the following three years to provide 10,000 homes. At least 1,000 homes are expected to be available by the end of 2022.

According to a guideline released by the district government, talents who qualify to rent the apartments can receive subsidies and those who have no residence in Wuxi can receive a maximum of 1 million yuan in subsidies when buying homes.
