Binhu district in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province will build a country park to boost the integrated development of its tourism and cultural sectors.

The Jiangsu Provincial Planning and Design Group was recently invited to draw up a conceptual plan for the Taihu Country Park. Spanning an area of about 30 square kilometers, the park is situated to the west of the Changguangxi Wetland Park and the Xuelang Mountain, to the south of Lihu Lake, and to the northeast of the Taihu Lake.

The park will satisfy local residents' desire for natural landscapes and at the same time improve the city's layout, said an official at the Binhu branch of the Wuxi bureau of natural resources and planning.

According to the preliminary plan, the Taihu Country Park will provide a variety of cultural and tourism products to help promote the city's consumption upgrade. Tourists will be able to go sightseeing, experience ancient Chinese culture, do sports, and shop for creative cultural products in the park.

As people nowadays prefer short trips due to the pandemic, the park is expected to play a significant role in bolstering Wuxi's tourism scene, industry experts said.
