The first phase of Wuxi's metro line 4 started trial operations on Aug 20 without passengers and will run for three months.

The 25.4-kilometer line has 18 underground stations and runs from Liutan Station in Huishan district to Wuxi Taihu International Expo Center Station in Wuxi Economic Development Zone.

The line will pass through many local landmarks in Wuxi like Wuxi Sports Center, Wuxi Grand Theater, Wuxi Taihu International Expo Center, and Huishan Ancient Town.

It is the first half-ring metro line to be opened in Wuxi, which will connect to metro lines 1 at Liutan Station and Wuxi Civic Center Station, line 2 at Heliekou Station, as well as line 3 at Sheng'an Station.

The trains for the line, which are colored white and purple, have been upgraded compared to those of previous lines to be more user-friendly. New technology makes the trains smarter, safer, quieter, and more comfortable, according to officials.

The trains have completed 100,980 tests of 132 kinds in 70 days. Metro stations on line 4 will be further promoted during the three months to ensure smooth operation when the metro line begins to officially run.
