​Binhu posts 14.5% increase in GDP in H1

The gross domestic product of Wuxi's Binhu district totaled 49.15 billion yuan ($7.59 billion) in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 14.5 percent, according to the local H1 economic report.

The total output value of industries above designated size in Binhu increased by 31.7 percent year-on-year to 35.61 billion yuan during this period. Industries above designated size are defined as industrial companies with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan.

The Top 50 industrial enterprises contributed 8.7 percent of Binhu's industrial growth as their output value reached 20.4 billion yuan in H1, a year-on-year increase of 38.9 percent.

The output value of Binhu's equipment manufacturing industry in H1 increased by 35.9 percent year-on-year, accounting for 42.5 percent of the district's total industrial output.

In addition to industrial growth, the consumer market in Binhu has been recovering. The total retail sales of consumer goods in the district increased by 31.6 percent year-on-year to 13.09 billion yuan in H1, with an average growth rate of 11.5 percent over two years.

Tourism attractions in Binhu received 34.5 million visitors in the first six months of the year, registering a robust growth of 105.2 percent year-on-year. They also generated 20.8 billion yuan in total tourism revenue, an increase of 120.8 percent year-on-year.

Statistics also showed that the import and export volume of Binhu reached $1.56 billion, an increase of 51.6 percent year-on-year, ranking second in the city. The district's export volume was $1.12 billion, up 50.7 percent and ranking first in the city, while its import volume was $440 million, up 54.1 percent.

In addition, Binhu's actual use of foreign capital reached $170 billion in the half of this year.
