Wuxi's Binhu district has witnessed tremendous changes in its social and economic sectors after 20 years of development.

• GDP soared to 85.5 billion yuan ($13.4 billion) from 13.8 billion yuan

• The high-tech sector accounted for 70.4 percent of the district's industrial output value above designated size in 2020, a significant rise from 16.7 percent in 2009

• The average life expectancy increased from 76.54 years in 2005 to 84.42 years in 2020

• There are now 18 listed companies in Binhu with a total market value of over 1 trillion yuan since WuXi AppTec became the first listed company in the district in August 2007
