Wuxi's Binhu district reported significant growth in its main economic indicators in the first quarter of 2021 at an economic meeting on May 8.
According to the authorities, the district's total output of industries above designated size, operating revenue of service industry above designated size, total exports and imports, and total retail sales of consumer goods increased by more than 40 percent year-on-year.
The growth rate of its total imports and exports, total exports, general public budget revenue and tax revenue was ranked first in the city.
Because of the district's efforts to promote technological innovation, its high-tech industrial output accounted for 71 percent of the total output of industries above designated size and 1.43 billion yuan ($221.54 million) worth of technical contracts were secured.
Ma Liang, director of Binhu, said the economic report represents a good start and that progress should be maintained in the second quarter of this year. He also encouraged more efforts to attract more high-quality projects.
