The opening ceremony for the annual Wuxi International Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs from March 1 to May 5 this year, was held on March 10 at the Yuantouzhu (Turtle Head Isle) scenic spot in Binhu district, Wuxi, Jiangsu province.

The festival's main attractions each year are 30,000 cherry trees in Turtle Head Isle, known as the paradise of cherry blossoms. The first batch of trees is currently in full bloom.

The park offers many different areas for admiring cherry blossoms, including Cherry Blossom Valley, Changchun Bridge, and Luding Mountain, all of which boast colorful and unique scenery.

Tourists can enjoy the cherry blossoms both during the day and at night, and the park's colorful glowing lights were upgraded this year to build the Cherry Blossom Valley into a nighttime fantasy world combining music, dancing, and digital technologies.

The opening ceremony briefed the audience on major upcoming activities, which include traditional opera shows, a dance performance and a painting and calligraphy exhibition by famous artists.

Yuantouzhu scenic spot also introduced special shaped ice cream this year as a springtime novelty. The milky and sweet ice cream is shaped like a painting of cherry blossoms and popular tourist destinations inside the scenic spot, including the Cherry Blossom Tower.

A number of other attractions have also been specially designed for the festival, including a cherry blossom-themed cinema, a resort town, and a cultural and creative fair.
