​Binhu COVID-19 fighters receive provincial honor

Medical workers from Wuxi's Binhu district were commended during a meeting on Nov 26 that honored outstanding individuals and groups in the fight against COVID-19 in Jiangsu province.

The honorary title of "Provincial Outstanding Individual in Fight against the COVID-19 Epidemic" was conferred to Xu Hanshun, director of Binhu's center for disease and control, and Qin Liqin, deputy director of the community health service center of Binhu's Mashan sub-district. Binhu's heath committee received the title of "Provincial Outstanding Group in Fight against the COVID-19 Epidemic".

Xu, also a public health expert with more than 30 years of working experience, made timely preparations at the beginning of the epidemic and worked on the frontlines as Binhu reopened from its lockdown.

Qin is chief physician at the only community medical institution in Mashan. She worked overtime to inspect quarantine locations during the pandemic and guided reopening efforts as the pandemic died down.

According to Binhu's heath committee, 2,355 medical workers and leading cadres in Binhu participated in the fight against COVID-19. A total of 1,842 medical institutions and public places were checked and more than 200 places covering an area of 790,000 square meters were disinfected.
