Wuxi's Binhu district signed a cooperation agreement with Nanjing Tech University to promote scientific and technological innovation on July 27.

The university's sci-tech research achievements will be applied and commercialized in Binhu, which is expected to help boost local social and economic development.

During the signing ceremony, the two sides agreed to cooperate on a biodegradable plastic R&D project and an air and gas mixing project.

Nanjing Tech University is strong in advanced manufacturing, new materials, and biomedicine, which are important for the development of the health, information technology, and manufacturing industries in Binhu, said Ma Liang, director of Binhu.

Ma said the Binhu government will help connect the university with local enterprises and scientific institutes and promote their cooperation.

Binhu is home to 12 provincial or ministerial-level scientific research institutes, six provincial-level key laboratories, and 28 provincial or municipal-level public technological service platforms, according to Ma.

Rui Hongyan, Party secretary of Nanjing Tech University, said that both sides will benefit from the sci-tech cooperation projects, and that the university hopes to strengthen cooperation with Binhu.
