Fresh Dafu green plums are ready for picking in Dafu community, Binhu district, Wuxi.
Dubbed as the emerald of Taihu Lake, Dafu green plums are a distinctive local fruit. They feature thin skin, juicy flesh, sweet and sour taste, rich nutrients and intoxicating honey wine-like smell.
Thanks to an abundance of sunlight, the green plums are growing very well this year, said Shi Huazhong, an official of Dafu community.
The cultivation history of green plums in Binhu stretches back more than 2,500 years. There are now about 100 hectares of orchards with an expected output of 2,300 tons this year.
