Binhu plans for livelihood projects

Binhu district of Wuxi city plans to further improve living conditions for locals in 2019 by spending 1 billion yuan ($147.65 million) on 25 livelihood projects.

The district will renovate 170,000 square meters of old residential areas and 15 villages, improve the secondary water supply facilities of 15 residential areas, build gas pipelines for 100 restaurants, install natural gas devices for 1,000 households, and add three new small parks. He Ye Xin Cun, an old residential area with 44 buildings constructed in 1970s, has also been listed in the government's renovation plans.

Efforts will also be put into improvements to the environment, infrastructure and ecology by trimming 15,000 trees, building and rebuilding 12 public toilets, reconstructing and renovating waste treatment stations and waste transfer stations, building and renovating roads, adding 1,000 public parking spaces and building 22 telecommunication base station supportive projects.

Moreover, Binhu will create 900 new jobs to help those with employment difficulties, pay basic endowment insurance for 2,250 company staff, offer home-based care to 10,000 households with seniors, buy accident insurance for seniors aged 70-74 to improve the coverage of senior accident insurance to 85 percent, renovate bathrooms for 200 households of lonely old people, aid families in poverty due to illness, push forward 40 public welfare projects, renovate kindergartens and build new primary school.
