A self-service law firm was put into operation in Meihu community in Wuxi's Binhu district on Dec 7, providing companies and residents with accurate and effective services.

The self-service law firm is an internet-based legal service platform for the public that applies internet, big data and cloud computing technology. Connecting online with lawyers nationwide, the platform is composed of a HD touch terminal, an ID card reader and equipment for file uploading and printing. It features functions including quick consultation, material sharing, clerical services, arrangement of interviews with lawyers and consultations via video.

As part of Wuxi's efforts to promote smart legal services, the self-service legal firm offers online legal services such as service information display and registration for legal services.

The platform has brought the public more convenient and efficient ways to access legal services. After scanning an identity card and inputting a mobile phone verification code, people can access the instant services offered by the legal service firm, seeking legal aid from layers via voice, video, text or interview.

According to the Meihu community, multiple residents have tried the new platform. The service price varies for different consultation services, such as 15 yuan ($2.17) per time for phone consultations and 10 yuan each time for text consultations. Users can enjoy free video consultations with lawyers for the first half an hour and 30 yuan per hour after that.
