Jiangnan University creates BRI food science alliance

The founding ceremony of the "Belt and Road" University Alliance for Food Science and Education was held in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province on Nov 16.

Hong Liu, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Liu Xia, deputy mayor of Wuxi, as well as presidents, experts and scholars from 49 universities in 27 countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) attended the ceremony.

The alliance, initiated by Jiangnan University, is a non-governmental and nonprofit multilateral cooperation platform. It is dedicated to promoting the collaborations between member universities in talents training, scientific research and cultural exchanges, aiming to facilitate mutual benefits and synergized development in the food science and technology field for universities from countries and regions along the BRI route.

A total of 49 universities have joined the alliance, including the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), the University of Queensland, the University of Reading, Massey University and the National University of Singapore. All the member universities are among the top five in the food science and technology field of their countries.
